These finely crafted wooden drums, influenced by African and Central American designs, are appropriate for all ages. Having excellent tone, yet practically indestructible, my drums can be played and enjoyed by anyone. Individual tones are obtained by varying the length of each wooden tongue cut into the top. You get 6 or 8 different tones but these tones are not tuned accurately to a particular key. Instruments have either ash (blonde), red oak, birch or cherry sides with paduak tops. Drumsticks are of dowels and superballs. An 8-tone is approx. 17 1/2" x 8" x 7" with the 6-tone being somewhat smaller. If you'd like to see a video of the slit drum click here.
